Origin of NIAS Consciousness Studies Programme

Bring scientists of eminence and proven leadership to NIAS to work on areas of interdisciplinary importance and pan-human influence – This was one of the expressions of the mission of Dr Raja Ramanna when he founded the National Institute of Advanced Studies in 1988, as an outcome of the vision shared with JRD Tata, the founder Chairman of NIAS.

Our Team

The faculty and research team of the Programme work on interdisciplinary questions that explore the nature of mind, consciousness, causality, cognition, aesthetics, indigenous knowledge, health, and wellbeing.
